Okay. Here it is: You know how sometimes you start thinking about something and you start daydreaming. Okay well, when you day dream, you don't see anything. So my question is, if someone is daydreaming, but their eyes are open, CAN THEY SEE? Put it this way. They are sitting right in front of a tree, and their eyes are open, but thy are daydreaming. So, can that person actually SEE at that given moment. Or would they be the equivilant of a blind person because technically they are not "seeing" what's in front of them. Really think about it. Intelligent answers please. Thanks.

Have you never daydreamed, before? You seriously can't answer this question for yourself?

This happens to me all the time I'll be trying to watch tv with my husband and he'll say "did you see that?" and no I didnt, even though I am facing the tv eyes opened I do not notice what is on the screen because I'm so deep in thought. I sort of agree with the first answerer though. I think maybe my eyes are seeing it but my brain is not processing what im seeing because it's busy daydreaming. Interesting question.

Hmmmm... well, the capability is there but is the brain giving you the option for the moment? You pose a good question! I can say, that I have daydreamed and still remembered a little bit about what was going on around me.

You are seeing, but you are not processing what you are seeing. They say you cannot think about more than one thing at a time. So, you will "see" the tree, but your attention is focused on the daydream. I assure you, if the tree is hit by lightning and catches fire, you will see that quickly enough to react!!

You can see (your eyes are working) but your brain isn't processing the information (so you are not seeing in that sense) which is why people at times do things like walk into trees when their talkiing to another person while walking.

I think seeing is always on 100%. It seems to me the mind is constantly compelled to create images and realities using all our sense analyzers: eyes, ears, skin, nose, 6th sense, etc. Of course it becomes a personal reality because the senses act as filters based on internal and external influences. It's just a matter of where YOU give most attention to that determines your experience in the present.

You can see but you aren't paying attention. It's like when my dad watches TV and he can hear you but he's not paying attention, so unless something is out of the ordinary he's not going to hear it. Something with daydreaming unless something is really out of the ordinary you aren't going to see it...

They are only half paying attn. So they might not remember everything in front of them.
