No, every pregnancy is different (even in the same person). Your mother may be a good indication of how things are going to go but so many things like overall health, exercise, and diet can also effect you. Also, I have found many mothers to have selective memories when it comes to this stuff :)

Im not sure if if thats true or not, but my grandma and mom never had morning sickness, or breast tenderness, with every pregnancy, my mom had 2 and my grandma as well. When i got pregnant i was worried about morning sickness, because i HATE throwing up, but i never once got sick. Also, i didnt really have breast tenderness either. Some people tell me that you take after your mother or grandmother when your pregnant, but im not really sure. My grandma had her oldest within 1 1/2 hrs of getting to the hospital, and 30 within getting to the hospital with my mother. My mom on the other hand, had very long labors with both. So i hope that i take after my grandma lol
Well i hope i helped,
congrats on the pregnancy!!

I don't know about the symptoms, my mom and I never talked about that, but I know my actual pregnancy was a lot similar to hers. I didn't ever get morning sickness, and she was the same. I also never got stretch marks, and neither did she, even with 5 kids! There were other things too, but I don't necessarily believe everyone's works out that way.

It's not true.

My mother told me her morning sickness was very mild and only bothered her in the mornings. It stopped after 10 weeks.
Mine lasted all day and continued to 20 weeks. I'm pregnant with my 4th now and it's the same thing all over again.

While it is true that if your mother had morning sickness you are "more likely" to have it, but there are exceptions and the way you experience it might be very different.

I'm 6 weeks pregnant now and I sympathize with you. I've been heaving and retching for days now!

I don't think there's any kind of relationship between your mother's pregnancy and your own. As other people have pointed out, it's different with every woman, and pregnancies are all different, even in the same woman. By the way, Serena is my name too.

Thank God that's not true!! My mom puked the entire 9 months all day long with both her pregnancies. (I was supposed to be the only child!) She weighed less just before my brother was born than when she got pregnant, drove the doctor nuts. She hates me now because I haven't had more than a mild upset tummy with either of mine. It almost (but not quite) makes me feel bad. Congrats, I hope you don't feel too bad for too long.

Nope every pregnancy is different. My mum had two girls and one she was as sick as a dog for nine months the other she sailed through!
I sailed through my firsdt (up to 34wks) and had a boy now preggo with #2 so I will see what happens!!

My mom was sick the entire time she was pregnant with me, but I haven't had more than a handful of days with morning sickness.
(Knock on wood!)

I don't think there is a correlation between your mom's pregnancies and your own!

Every woman is different as well as every pregnancy. My mom was sick with me and not my brothers.
