Let's say you got the "army" out of America. Then released a major virus like the bird flu or aids, or someting even more contagios- like through a sneeze, and you and your partners had the only anti-virus.

How important would that military force be to you if you and your 1000 or so friends were the only survivors of that deadly pandemic?

Wouldn' you want that army to defend you from the "enemy" that wiped out the American people?

Let's just say that the world would be a better place if the people got control of the army back...the constitution had it right but the politicians and the generals are taking these armies in the wrong direction....defend yes, by all means..to be an imperialistic aggressor is totally against the constitution of the US.

They’re extremely important to all the enemies of the USA.
First, they provide a convenient method of perfecting tactics and weapons for use against our equipment, training and tactics. What is perfected in Iraq can then be transferred to other theatres of operation like Israel, or adopted by potential foes like China.
Second, they enable the local population to perfect their target practice skills. A paper target down range just doesn’t work as well as a human ducking and dodging.
Third, they provide a rallying point for Islamist around the world. What Afghanistan was in the 80’s and Bosnia in the 90’s, Iraq is in the 00’s.
Finally, by degrading our military power by exhausting our equipment, over taxing our manpower and raising our deficit, it makes it harder for us to fight any near-term future conflicts.

The armed forces of this or any country is very important. The national guard should never leave the country, it's their job to guard our borders in an emergency. we're undermanned across the globe. We do have troops here in the states but not enough.

If we were really there for the Iraqis that would be different. But, and I say, but we aren't there for them, now are we? Our president has his own selfish agenda. That's pretty much what all war has been about.
