If you raise the tax too much people won't buy them and then where does the money come from? And just because I smoke that doesn't mean I cause ALL the nation's health care issues. Why not tax something that everyone uses so it's unilaterally paid for?

Cigarettes destroy people's health, both smokers and nonsmokers alike. Why shouldn't smokers contribute to health care? They are going to need medical care more than other people, so why no force them to pay into it

Its capitalist healthcare disguised as a central authority 'equivalent-for-all human beings' device. The capitalist device might say you pay in relative to the amenities you're removing. the government device pretends that all human beings pays in as they're waiting to have the money for and then takes out as they choose. regrettably, grant, call for, reason, result, and fee do not purely disappear. Therefor, to create the phantasm of a central authority run 'equivalent for all' device, there could be taxes on 'risky' habit, particularly those interior the minority. Or, in England's case, they might sooner or later thoroughly deny coverage to human beings who smoke and obese persons. according to risk a $2 a lager tax to pay for liver issues, etc... interior the tip, its sort of a similar result - those with extra wellness issues pay extra and healthful human beings pay much less. In result, no diverse than the capitalist coverage regime - purely that wealthy CEOs are replaced by utilising wealthy politicians. the only distinction is you may not choose out and save your funds for your self and refuse scientific amenities. you will refuse, you purely could pay for it besides, in spite of if your 'honest share' is greater than the guy next to you who makes extra funds. are not government gives you grand?
