I have done it before and would probably do it again. I don't take kindly to being backstabbed or screwed over.

Well, I know from experience that my friends and family had cut me out of their lives when I was using and drinking. Now, I am pretty much the foundation of my family - the one who organizes and plans, keeps in touch with everybody and is there to help anyway I can.
I believe in second chances. The things that I did in my past were terrible and I understand completely why they didn't want me around. People change - sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worst.

Yes- I think if someone hurts you, in order for you to be able to move on--cutting them out of your life is definitely the answer. You cannot move on while talking to the very person who caused the pain.

Absolutely especially if they are obstructing the happiness everyone has a right to attain for themselves . I think of my life as a balance and if someone continues to tip the scales of it then it's time for them to go . Life is much to short to spend around people who bring negativity into it . Don't allow yourself to be cheated out of all the happiness you can grasp , good luck you can do it .

it would depend on the reason you want to cut them out and how close you are with them. if a best friend hurt your feelings it can probably be worked out. but if a boyfriend cheats on you cutting him out of your life isnt a bad idea.

Yes, I have cut out my entire family, mom and dad and bros, I'm from a line of abused victim b/c of m&d, my older bro is messed up on dope and not healthy for me to be around and my younger is too stupid to understand it all and thinks we've made it up (my older bro and I)-they are out, I've gone thru my wedding, a miscarriage and 2 babies without them and even a rape, If I can get through it without them I don't need them.

I haven't cut anyone out of my life, I just have let things take their natural course. I got tired of being the one holding up a one sided relationship with my parents so I stopped trying and they haven't made any effort to keep things going with me so it has the same effect as cutting them out of my life even if I haven't done so.

some people just drift away, there's no need to cut them off. After all cutting them off isn't going to make me feel any better. They will still happily go on in their ever growing social circle and i'll be cutting down the size of my own.

I"m sorry you're having a hard time. I love my family but we ALL removed ourselves from an uncle that molested at least 3 members of the family. Once he got out of jail we never contacted him again.. He never said sorry... My parents are beautiful ppl, but they too saw it best to walk away for good
so sometimes it's good, count the cost. Is it worth it...?

The wife and I cut out an old friend. She was psycho-crazy-biAtch!
Haven't seen her in 18 years.
'Nother one was a loonie toones friend from college. This guy was one step away from starting his own Waco style cult. He's been gone (from my life) for over 20 years now.
