this site has become noticed by those who are not senior citizens? I feel like they want to be here to learn, and I hope that is the reason.
Any feelings about this?

We are attracting a lot of people from other sub-categories who are tired of dealing with the nastiness and sometimes open conflict that goes on all over the rest of YA.

We are (mostly) sane and calm, compared to other places, and these people need that in order to affirm that there are sane and normal people left in the world.

We are also inheriting a few trolls if you notice--ones that ask controversial questions in order to trap you into answering in any way that can be sited as a departure from the community guidelines.

I urge everyone who has dealt with a troll (you will notice if you start receiving a lot of thumbs down to completely legitimate answers, or if you receive a violation notice over an innocent answer) to make their profiles private. Go into your Edit my Profile page and unclick the link for fans (those people who you have chosen to be your contacts will still have access to your profile and all your previous answers--people who try to become your fan to gain access to your previous answers will not). And then click the links that block access to your profile information and previous answers. They are all contained under the "Privacy" section. (Don't forget to hit the blue button at the bottom of the screen for "Preview" and then "OK" or these changes will not be accepted.)

I like having our Senior Citizen site open to all ages. I think we all have something unique to offer the other age groups. We as seniors are capable of learning from them just as much as they learn from us--don't forget that.

Yes there have been some very nice people, that have gravitated to this site, only because of the nasty, negative answers and questions that some of the other sites generate.
Then there are the Trolls, that stop by and utter their nonsense, but they will always be Trolls, and nothing will stop them. School is starting or will be soon and all the little kiddies will go away, hopefully, or find something better to do.

The nice ones, hopefully are learning what it is to get older, the memories that we all have growing up, how life was much easier, and cheaper. A reflection that maybe there is still hope for our world, that there are caring and concerned people out there. People that have brains and can think and reason for themselves People that have something to add and give to society. Welcome to you all, enjoy our past, create your future with a little humanity to man.

I really have to disagree with you about youngsters coming here to learn. Most think they know it all already. I noticed a couple of posts the other day by high school kids who thought this was a place where seniors (12th grade students) posted and answered questions. So much for knowing it all.

I dont belong to the seniors group yet but not many more years to go. Well, it is interesting to take a peep into the seniors' lives and learn to understand them better. At least i learn how to deal and be more understanding with my senior family members. I always have a soft spot for them though. More so I enjoy their wisdom.

To answer your question, yes and no. I asked a question a short time back and the answers I got came from the younger writers. One gave a site to find the words to the song, another said 'dah' and the third said they liked the song. The answers were not to the question, I asked for the meaning of the words. For you see we learn and they learn, sometime not by getting the answer you are looking for but by the ones you get. If that makes any sense.

Sometimes a teen comes in here and thinks that it means high school seniors. I guess they don't understand the ''citizens'' part

At 68 I like to think of myself as a wise old crone with knowledge to share, so I'm always glad to talk about "the olden days" with anyone who asks (even if they mean the 1990's). But only if they ask.

I'm 57, but I came and stayed because there wasn't a lot of nastiness here. I have great respect for my elders and know they can give me advice based on their own experience. If I can offer good advice to someone else, I'm up for that as well.

Actually it has been this way since this forum began. The senior high schoolers (along with their prank plans) thought it was about them. Eventually, they excused themselves. But we always welcome all views. We learn from them, they learn from us.

Every now and then, you get immature trolls. They don't fool us.
