My car is in very good condition at 100,000 miles. I want to maintain it best I can. Here are a few questions for any of you auto buffs:
1. What is a recommended service to have performed for my transmission to keep it in top condition?
2. Can a hole in the muffler be doing permanant/irreversable damage to my car or it's electrical components?
3. Any advice for a weak start? It almost seems as if its not getting enough fuel-but I know this isn't the problem. I believe it is a security issue being caused from a weak signal from my key which makes the car 'think' that someone is trying to steal the car and will make it unable to start.
4. Air Conditioner- the air flow settings-I am unable to use the lowest settings (1 and 2), but I can use the 3rd setting. When I turn the knob (to the first 2 settings), I hear the engine strain (like during regular air conditioner use), but air does not come out. When I turn to the 3rd setting, it comes on. Is it the knob, or my compressor

1. Have the pan removed and a new filter installed and then get the entire fluid changed out. Usually called a transmission service and flush.
2. A hole in the muffler is not a real big deal. There shouldn't be any wires in that area anyways. That said it still should be replaced as these can rot out very quickly and fall off with some damage to your car and maybe to someone elses.
3. Hard to say what is wrong with the starting deal. If you are having a hard start, I would first get the car's starter/charging system checked. Then I would get the PCM and the BCM checked for codes. If there are security codes stored, you will need further diagnosis and repair of the ignition switch assembly or removal of the auto start if there is one in there.
4. The blower motor problem is only a resistor board with a burned out circuit in the two you describe. This component is right behind the blower assembly under the passenger area of the dash. It isn't too much fun to replace this, but it is a relatively inexpensive part.

Good luck.

1. Now that it has over 100,000 miles, transmission checks should be every 20,000-30,000 miles. Sooner if you hear weird noises.

2. Muffler holes can do damage in that it allows exhaust fumes to sneak up into your car, which can make you and passengers sick with carbon monoxide poisoning - it's silent and deadly. Get this covered immediately.

3. You may have purchased cheap/dirty fuel. Try a gas line cleaner at your next fill-up. You may also need your spark plugs cleaned or replaced for more efficient firing.

4. The AC may need to be recharged if it is weak. If certain settings do not work, your compression or fan may need to be replaced. It is not completely necessary if you can do with the higher settings - focus your money on repairs that matter (read: #2).

Take good care of this car - my dad owned the exact model and loved it! Enjoying driving this car!

1. 60 thousand miles trany service and flush
2.not small holes under normal conditions although a larger hole can be very dangerous, in cases cause fires
3.have your battery checked, if it is ok you may be turning the engine over before the fuel pump can produce enough pressure, try leaving the key in the acc position to supply fuel pressure
4.three words/ blower motor resistor
