It depends on where you live. It seems to me that fewer and fewer stations play Christmas music and the ones that do end up playing the secular ones (Silver Bells, Grandma got run over by a reindeer). In most cities, there is at least one station that plays all or mostly Christmas music starting the day after Thanksgiving. And usually by Christmas eve, some more stations will play Christmas music. In some cities, the classical music station will play all of the traditional songs (Oh Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night, etc.) on Christmas Day. Great question.

About Thanksgiving the music starts playing. In Chicago there are 2 stations that play Christmas songs 24 hours a day until after New Years.

A certain radio station where you live will most likely start playing Christmas music a little before Thanksgiving or right after Thanksgiving.

It depends on the radio station. One station near me plays nothing but Christmas music form the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas day.

Most radio stations start after Thanksgiving being as though that's when some say the holiday officially jumps off with Black Friday and all.

I know of at least one station that begins to play Christmas music in the evening starting on the 1st of November. That's the earliest that it starts where I am.

I ve heard people say they start playing Christmas music on November first, but I will NOT listen to it UNTIL BLACK FRIDAY, and I will listen to it up to Christmas day. Once December 26 rolls around, I stop listening to Christmas music and will NOT listen to it again until Black Friday the next year.
