Danielle R - I am not stuck up and snooty, I just find it embarrasing, you on the other hand seem a bit uptight, jeez!

Maybe you look like you could use a friend or maybe you look like someone who would be their friend. Never judge people. There is always a reason why someone is the way they are. Maybe they "drunken tramp" as you call her is reaching out and needs a friend. Maybe the "smelly weirdo" as you call him/her, needs a friend. They see something in you, i am not sure what because you seem to be one of those types that are stuck up and snooty. It might surprise you if you try to be friends with people are not in the "cool crowd" One of these "drunken tramps" could turn out to be your best friend if only given the chance. A lot of why people are the way they are is because of their family life. Maybe her mother ran off with someone and she is being raised by a drunken father. Don't judge people by how they act and or look.
One of my best friends in highschool was considered a party animal and a tramp, but she was a great person on the inside. There was also this girl who seemed to never take showers or wash her hair. My first impression was oh my gosh she smells. All she needed was a friend. Her home life was rough and she taking care of her sick father all the time so was not able to keep up with showers every day and doing laundry etc. There is a reason for everything.
Just think about it next time you judge someone for their outer appearance or behavior.

Prosaic - maybe he fancies you; then again, maybe he sees a potential for compassion in your eyes and is attracted to it.

Generalistic - We all have the tramp sit next to us every day. Always that bloody tramp. Always the same one, too. Why me? Someone once said, "we're not put on earth to enjoy ourselves." I think we all need to rise to the challenge, not only accept that the tramp is there, but engage and be grateful for it.

In the end, both of these boil down to the same thing: rise to the occasion!

Ah!! It sound like you too have the invisible neon sign above your head that reads "Nutters talk to me". I get this all the time. Hasn't happened too recently as I'm having mild attacks of agoraphobia so I've not been out much. I can't even remember the last time I was on a bus!!

Because of the sign on your back "smelly, drunken, nutters sit here". Just get up and move hon, there are more important things to worry about in life.

sit on the side seat on the bus, or tell him you are expecting a friend to get on just down the road, Asda in only a short time you can cope with that

Because I got myself a car and started to shop in Waitrose!

I still manage to attract nutters whilst walking down the street though!

maybe you're a drunken tramp/weirdo magnet... I had this guy come up to me in the market and he took my Oscar Mayer's beef bologna out of my cart and then said, "you should get it from the deli"... what??? Some people just draw in crazies. Maybe they think we are crazy too...?

That always happens to my wife too, and they always talk to her forever in unintelligble mumble. Maybe you need to wear an angry expression when you're in public. That's what I do in the city and I've never had a problem.

Or maybe you could just try to be smellier yourself.
