Do not use any sort of a non-selective herbicide that has a residual effect for sure. Some weed controls, like round up, have products that you can purchase with continuous control that lasts up to several months. That would be BAD! No vegitation would grow for months, and that is not what you want.

If you are replanting the entire lawn, and are intent on killing the weeds first, use the non-selective herbicide first (no continous control though!!!) Remember, a non-selective herbicide will kill ANY vegitation it touches, so watch out for drift and do not track it (from your shoes) on to somewhere that you do not want dead! Wait 3-4 weeks, then work up soil, seed, and lay your starter fertilizer.

Once you have seeded, you cannot use ANY kind of weed control until you have mowed the new grass at least 3-5 times. It will bee too immature to be able to withstand even selective herbicides (like weed-b-gone). Once it has been mowed a couple times, your can start using your weed-and feeds.....

When you spray the lawn, you'll get bare spots, especially where there used to be patches of clover. Once you spray the weed-kill, I'd start watering it for two days right away to get it ready to seed. If the ground is tough and full of clay, you should at least rake it to break it up, and may want to put topsoil on after you put the seed down.

But yeah, it's pretty much what you think it is--be happy with the weeds or get started on a bunch of work to get a grassy lawn.

hi, The question is spray on, water in or granules. Granules and water in tend to artwork in the path of the roots so ought to impact your flowers. Spray on is a much better determination for a calm day. the excellent answer of all is to grass plug or seed your "backyard" mow it extreme and enable the grass kill or choke the weeds. Try something called Weed-B-Gone. It won't kill grass or trees.

-please don't apply weed killer to your lawn, you may just kill the entire block with the pesticides,.use a natural weed killer or remove the weeds right out of the ground by the root,..
