Dark Star (1974) I realize that it's pre-1980 but, if you're looking for "bizarre"... p.s. Horror and Sci-Fi cannot really exist, together. Once you bring the supernatural into it, it is no longer sci-fi. The original "Alien" is SciFi-Horror. It's basically just a 1950s-style haunted house story updated and set in outer space without the supernatural element. The rest of the "Alien" series is basically just SciFi-Action with any Horror being purged out of it by the reveal of the monster in the original. I honestly cannot think of another movie that attempts to combine the two genre's that doesn't include some supernatural elements - at which point the SciFi part is basically negated. .

Blech... INTERMEDIO sucked out loud. Don't bother with that one.
I'd second the suggestion of EVENT HORIZON. The ending is a little weak, but it's a great scifi/horror flik otherwise.

12 Monkeys is a good one. Also, if you haven't seen it, check out Event Horizon. It's great!

or
