the print screen button copies what is on the screen of your computer at the time. from there, go to Paint, and click edit, paste. it will paste on to the page what the entire screen was when you hit print screen. take out the part of the picture that you want, then click file, save

Creates a clipboard item that has to be copied into another document. Assuming you have not cleared your clipboard, or performed a "copy" in Office...you can paste it. Save the document (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Lotus, etc...) and there you go.
Edit:
Incidentally, + will copy the *active* window only...all other running programs and tool bar at the bottom of the screen are not "imaged".

After pressing printscreen the pic of the whole screen is saved into your clipboard. Now if you want to print it you have to paste it into MS Paint. In Paint you can edit it or just go to File-Print and the pic will print to your default printer.

Pressing "print screen" copies the screen to your clipboard.
You can then paste it onto a page in your word processor. It may be very small, so you may want to send it to your photo software and enlarge it
