Here's a way to "wall paper" the wall that is temporary and very easy to put up and take down again:
Measure the wall to get the square footage (length of the wall times the height of the wall)
Find enough black material (fabric) that's not too terribly heavy - avoid denim or knits - to cover that wall plus give yourself a few extra feet - you'll have to account for some shrinkage and the extra material to work with.
Get liquid starch - two to three bottles - again depending on the size of the wall.
Get thumb tacks
Have a plastic tub which you can put the starch in, and have room to soak a good amount of the fabric.
Measure and cut a length of fabric that will be about 6 - 8 inches longer than the wall.....meaning top to bottom, not left to right.
Take that length of fabric and accordion gather it (like you gather panty hose to put them on) - dunk it in the starch. You'll then "hang" it on the wall - start at the top - leave about 3 to 4 inches extra...you'll thumb tack the material to the wall ....the starch acts as a glue....you'll have to smooth it out as you work down...you may have to go back to "re -hang" if it's crooked (the material I used had lines in it....was SO obvious when I was just a tad crooked) Also if you start next to the corner....you should be able to use the corner line as kind of guide to get the material on straight. Once you have it tacked at the top, and smoothed down the wall...tack it again at the bottom - you should have a few inches of material left at the bottom too.
Cover the whole wall. Let it dry - over night or so.....cut off the extra material using a razor blade (carefully so as not to damage anything behind it.) Remove the thumb tacks. Your fabric is stuck - it will stay stuck till you decide to peel it off. It will come off easy enough - and the wall behind it is not damaged (provided of course there was some paint on the wall when you started)_
This is a great way to also get matching valences, or bedspread etc since you can always get more than enough fabric to make other things.

there is a textured wallpaper at Lowes, much like anaglypta paper, that is paintable... so you just put this wallpaper up, then paint IT.... it comes off good, so when there's a need for change, it's a quick fix..... it also covers bad walls and old paneling really nice.....

Tell the 15 year old you dont want to paint the walls and you cant find wallpaper. He/she will think that you tried your best and forget about it.
