if the odor is a musty odor (like the smell of dirty gym socks) then the problem is caused by mold growing inside the air conditioning evaporator case. Its very common for mold to grow in a dark, damp, moist environment and that's exactly whats inside the evaporator case.

There are two things to do if thats the case. The first is to make sure that the drain for the evaporator case is clear and not restricted by leaves, grass or other organic debris that gets pulled in with the outside air. Most repair shops can blow out the drain with compressed air; if you're doing an oil change at the same time they won't charge you to do that.

The second thing is to use a commercial product to kill the mold spores. There is one product called 'ozium' that is an oxygenating agent that you can buy in most parts stores to do just that. that product is sprayed into the fresh air intake for the air conditioning system. the intake is usually under the hood at the passenger side cowl.

If you can't find ozium, then you can mix household bleach with water (about 1 tablespoon per quart) and put it into a spray bottle then with the engine running and the air conditoner and fan on High spray the mixture into the air intake. After an ounce or two max, shut the car off and give the bleach time to work on the mold.

If the smell is other than the dirty socks smell, then we'll need a better description to help you out!

hope that helps

Are you running your AC on recirc or regular? Sometimes you just pick up outside odors from other cars or the environment if you are running on regular AC. Try using it in the recirculation mode and see if you still pick smells. Also sometimes if you just had your oil changed they spill a little on the engine and it smells when it's burning off. Good Luck!!

Might have something to do with that light going from green to yellow!!

Seriously, it could be an indication of something very wrong. I recommend you have it checked by a professional that you trust.
