Some of this might be redundant with some of the previous answers, but I'll try to be complete.

Pennsylvania, as other people have answered, has the two big cities of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia which vote heavily Democratic in statewide and national elections.

Wisconsin (which happens to be my home state) is a bit more complicated. It does have two strong Democratic strongholds with Milwaukee and Madison, but Democrats also do better among rural voters in Wisconsin than in other states. Many WI rural voters are farmers that support Democrats for economic reasons such as farming subsidies. They tend to be more socially conservative than than Democrats in the cities.

First of all Pittsburgh is a predominately Democratic city, argh, secondly history would show you that since 1944 the Republican candidate for President has won Pennsylvania more than the Democrat.

Large Cities Philly, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee. Leave the city cesspools and it is just more of us good old gun toting rednecks.

Why do dems always carry large cities? Yo No Say.
