I like meat, but sometimes I keep thinking about the animals we're killing for me to fill up my stomach. I have considered and I have tried to be a vegetarian in the past but it hasn't totally worked out for me, I end up eating at least tuna or chicken...if I make myself self-conscious about it I won't eat it and try to eat other things, but I'm not a good cook, so I don't know what all the vegetarian foods I can cook. I can barely cook just regular food that includes meat...vegetarian food seems to me more sophisticated, so I'd have to learn how to cook a bunch of different veg. meals.

Actually, I had been a vegetarian since I was 14. By the time I was 27, depression took over and I ate meat again. Now 28, I'm considering going back to being a vegetarian for the good of my health and for what I stand for.

No, I wouldn't consider becoming a vegetarian. The reason is not necessarily because I like meat excessively, but that according to my religion humans are allowed to eat meat from all animals except pigs, carnivorous animals, and certain other animals.

Let's face it: this world depends hugely on cattle and chicken for food. I seriously doubt that it is feasible for most people to become vegetarian.

Besides, I have no problem at all with hamburger, turkey, hot dogs, and chicken nuggets.

But I want to add that I am against the cruel treatment that many chicken farmers place on their chickens, and the other animal abuses that occur in the name of cost-cutting. Me, I truly believe that free-roaming, psychologically healthy, liberated poultry tastes better than enslaved, caged, unfree chickens.

The only thing that I would have a hard time giving up to become a vegetarian would be chicken and fish! I don't eat much red meat, and I don't like pork. I belive that I could be a vegetarian if I were driven enough.

I am a vegetarian, my reasoning.......once I found out that meat decomposes in your body in order to be digested, and after I saw a movie called "Our Daily Bread" it reveals how we get the meat we eat, and how they kill cows and pips and chickens its just cruel. And I've been off of meat for about 5-6months and I feel great, and have found and fell in love with meatless burgers, bean patties, and veggie burgers. There are still days when I'm like I would love a burger but I don't yield to the temptation. As lastly because i wanted to lose 30 more pounds taking my total weight loss to 140 pounds. ........Great question

Love meat, but going down that veggie road for over a week now and don't really miss it.

Reasons...
1) Why kill something on my behalf if it isn't necessary?
2) It's been shown time and again a healthier way to eat.
3) The straw that broke the camel's back... environmentally, meat costs our environment much more than other options.

But, who knows? Ask me in six months... by then I may be looking at dogs and cats in a different way (lol)..

Peace

I would never become a vegetarian. I limit carb intake, so I eat lots of fats and meats. I won't eat much fruit, so I would have too few options as a vegan/vegetarian.

Card carrying carnivore.

In fact, although I don't regularly have to kill my food to eat it, I'm pretty sure I could. I can certainly imagine eating dog (and yes, I have one. When I point out that she would just about fit on the grill, she usually wags her tail...). I do cook my own lobster.

So if I became a vegetarian, it wouldn't be on any sort of moral grounds.

It may be that I eat too much protein and animal fat and that might be the way to cut back on that ... but you can also not get enough of other required nutrients unless you load up on certain foods or take some sort of multivitamin.
