my book says to diconnect the ignition control system, A single wire sealed conector tan with black stripe comes out of wiring harness below heatercase! Ive looked inside and out .
I have found a tan and black stipe wire in the wire harness but no connect? It must be easy to get to ,when the shop does a tune up they have to access it. don't they?

Yes, that's right. You have to get the motor running with a timing light connected and unplug this wire. The wire you are looking for is either taped to the big wiring loom under the firewall cover close to where the firewall bends into the dash area. You might have to dig a little as sometimes this is taped pretty good into the harness. Some of these connectors found themselves under the dash and taped again to the big loom close to the heater motor. You will know it is the right connector as the motor will stumble and the SES light will come on. Set timing to what you want and shut the motor off. Re-connect the connector and clear the code. All should be good. Good luck.

Incidentally, a 350 chevy engine will fit into a Chevy Vega too!!! But, of course, it ain't easy either.... I put a 430 Lincoln in a 55 chevy too, but like ALL mismatched engine swaps, there's a whole lot of cutting, welding, fabrication and heartache that goes into it...fender wells, floor pan, firewall, those are only the start. Don't forget the rear end... And, ohhh yes...wiring on these new computerized cars...gotta work on that!!! How "old" is that Elantra btw???
