I breed Flemish Giant rabbits and have been for years. The females are alot better for pets. The males tend to become aggressive and they spray constantly! However If you are willing to get your rabbit neutered a male can make a great pet! I actually suggest getting your rabbit spayed or neutered no matter what gender you decided to get because it makes for a better pet!

Males normally make a better pet rabbit. Female rabbits once they reach about 4 months old go through a phase where their hormone levels rise. Some females when this happens become mean and can snap and bite at you. For others, it doesn't really affect them and they remain normal. Males go through the same thing, but usually you'll see a much smaller percentage of them turn mean.

Most male rabbits when they turn older also become very friendly and will often stick out their head to be petted.

Female rabbits do not "spray". Only male rabbits spray. Female rabbits can only pee downwards. The males are the ones that can spray to the sides. Even though spraying is limited to male rabbits, it is not something to worry about as long as you choose your rabbit carefully. Some male rabbits spray around their pen and coat the walls of the pen with urine. Normally, you'll notice this most after the rabbit has rubbed against the pen walls and has stained their coat. Male rabbits can often spray far enough so that the spray reaches an adjoining pen. So that is why a female can have spray on her. Spraying is a characteristic that is carried down genetically. If you use a male rabbit to breed with that sprays, most likely the males that are babies out of that rabbit will spray when they become mature. If you don't use rabbits to breed with that spray or that come from a genetic line that sprays, you should not have trouble with that in almost any of your male rabbits.

Male. They have more outgoing personalities than females do. Some female rabbits are more reserved and seem to prefer less attention, if given the choice! Many female rabbits, approaching adolescence, become instinctively territorial when it comes to their personal cage space, and sometimes this continues throughout their lives. Girls can still make good pets, they just need more time and patience on your part of life. But, if you get two male rabbits that aren't neutered, chances are, they will most likely fight. The same rule goes onto females, as they fight if they do not get spayed. But, it also depends. If you like female rabbits, go for it. If you like male rabbits, you can go for that, as well. I mean, not all female bunnies are over-protective and reserved. Some like attention from their owners and love to be petted in some point. But, sometimes, girl bunnies will tend to bite more if you pet them in a specific place, as the same thing happens with boys, but it depends with male because they aren't as reserved as a female is. Overall, they are both good pets, but a male is more affectionate, persay.

I would say a male. I have had a male and a female in the past and I liked the male better. Females tend to spray during mating season wich leaves a very bad odor and it is messy. The males will only spray if a female is around so if you have just one bunny than its fine.

Males tend to be better-behaved than females.
Females can make good pets, too, but you'll want to get them spayed at the age of 5-6 months. Before we got our first rabbit spayed, she was a little terror--every time we put a hand in her cage, she'd punch at it and grunt. Weirdly, though, removing the top of the cage made her incredibly docile, so we just did this to take her out until we could get her spayed.

regularly, male rabbits have a much better puppy character. lady rabbits can substitute into protective of their skill nesting aspects. Spaying or neutering makes the two an excellent better puppy. that's nicely worth protecting that some human beings have unaltered lady puppy rabbits that are impressive.
