Well, if you have a memory stick it will do the same thing until the space is filled up. Even though a memory stick is portable, the real question is if you really need the drive since most of the stuff are on CD these days. If you can answer a definite no then don't bother with the floppy. If your answer is yes, that you really do use floppy disks a lot then yes it would be neccesary.

THe USB floppy must be installed, but XP usually finds and installs the correct driver for it automatically.

If you have a newer laptop, go into the BIOS and make sure that the USB Legacy section is turned on. This may keep some items from being "found" by XP.

Then, make sure there is a disk in the drive when you go to access it. If the disk needs to be formatted, XP will tell you that too.

To format a disk, open My Computer, and then RIGHT click ont he 3½ Floppy Icon, then left click on FORMAT. Click OK to format. Once a disk is formatted, your machine will read it easily.

it would be assigned the subsequent attainablechronic after C or D purely like a usb flashchronic or usb not easychronic might. The A and B drives are reserved for inner units related to the motherboard throughout the time of the floppychronic controller. that's a legacy of previous configurations yet necessary because of the fact thechronic is detachable and might require the relettering of drives if disconnected.
