Do you think that was Federer best playing?

I've definetely seen him play better, but honestly I was expecting him to win based on the fact that he came back so strongly in the second set. Also when he went ahead in the thrid I thought it was all over, but I did have a small bit of faith that Djokovic could pull off another upset at this tournament. I don't think that Federer expected to loose this match (even when Djokovic took the first set). So I think he was just as shocked as everyone else. Since Djokovic beat in order Andy Roddick, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer, I picture him as Federer's main rival at the US Open. The kid is just good!

It is going to tough from here on for Federer. He played great
2nd set, but in the third he was struggling to keep the pace
with Djokovic. Give credit to Djokovic, he played great matches
and he has beaten Roddick (#3), then Nadal(#2) and yesterday
Federer(#1). This should be Djokovic's best career win and he
is a dangerous player and soon all these players need to
confront him. That would make a great US open.

i think that djokovic jumped all over him at the start of that third set and federer, who might not be used to guys not named nadal jumping on him. it did seem like roger missed alot of shots that he normally doesn't miss (even his forehand was hitting the tape) and he has taken some time off lately, but i'd be hardpressed to say anything more than that. he might have seemed a little flat, but djokovic played amazing. countless other players have been trying to break down federer's backhand for a long long long time but djokovic was the one who actually did it.

i can't wait to see what happens as a result of this match. is this the blueprint (attacking the backhand like djokovic did) that all the atp players will try to copy? is this a chink in r-fed's armor? has djokovic shaken the hornets net? will federer come out at the next U.S. Open series tournament and just annihilate the entire field? stay tuned!

Worst I've seen Fed play in years. Sad 3rd set but also sad 1st. Like Dylan says being up 6-5 40-love and loosing is unacceptable and not Roger at all. He played the way he normally does in the 2nd but let up in the 3rd and mishit so much throughout the match it wasn't funny. Good for Nole he deserved it even though Fed beat himself. Yes it will be nice to have a 3 way run for #1 with Roger, Rafa & Nole.

No, not his best tennis. But I'm glad that Federer finally has some competition. It has been just Nadal. Now that Novak comes along. It should be good for mens tennis and good for Roger to get some competition ;)

it particularly is a very reliable diagnosis, and it incredibly is a accident and extremely unusual. i don't see Federer dropping until the finals against Nadal (if Nadal makes it). Federer is basically too reliable on grass. Gicquel is a extraordinarily reliable participant, in spite of the shown fact that.

Claire S., I think the first set was the crappy one he was up 6-5, 40- love and let it slip away. He seemed absolutely lackluster to me. Oh well you can't win them all. While Fed. losing was horrible, Nadal got spanked worse by Djokovic,so all and all this tournament did have a silver lining.

I don't think the third set was a good set. He looks like he's ready to give up the match.

no just incredible third set from djokovic...he really hung in there and as commentators said,he did the same thing in his defense as nadal has done against federer and he played smartly in the tie-breaks.
