No......I went but all my friends didn't go. Some of them make more money than me. Motivation is what makes you successful not the degree.

I know A LOT of people who never even graduated high school that are making far more money and enjoying a whole lot more in life than most people I know who got a degree. I would not say they are wasting their life at all, lol. I think it really all depends on exactly what you want to do with your life. Obviously, one can't just be a doctor without medical school. But college is not for everyone, and the idea that you absolutely have to have it to succeed is a huge misconception. You do have to have an inner drive to succeed in anything, though, and a certain level of intelligence.

There have been a great many people in the past, and many with us today, who never went to a higher level of education and yet became a great success in life..... even in some cases a phenominal success. But in all such cases they also had some very exceptional qualities of dogged persistence, stickwithitness, and a stubborn refusal to accept anything short of eventual success in whatever they were aiming for. Primarily, of course, they had, very early on an unusually clear vision of what it was they WERE aiming for.

We only ever hear about the ones who, in spite of having not gone to college or university, did make it big. For obvious reasons we never hear about the millions who don't. Hard work, dedication to getting a good educational grounding, and a willingness to delay gratification during those days of learning, has ALWAYS paid off and helped that person to get a much better handle on life, and a better quality of life than the person who does none of these things. But in today's world, about the only way to not do those things and still become "rich/famous/successful" in one or a combination of those things, is to 1. Make it as a professional athelete. 2. Become a winner on American Idol 3. Marry into great wealth or 4. Win a multi-zillion dollar powerball lottery jackpot. Compare your chances of having one of those things actually happen to you, to your chances of at least a much better, more comfortable, more quality life as a well educated and trained person, and it seems like a no-brainer to me which one you should choose.

Barring the unexpected catastrophic sickness, or fatal accident, most of us fully anticipate making it through life into the age of retirement. This is supposed to be, should be, and can be a terrific phase of a person's life in which he can kick back with enough financial cushioning under his butt to be able to thoroughly enjoy the "golden years". But the preparation for making that happen begins in the teens. Those who don't prepare are destined for a mediocre future at best, and at worst, a painful, miserable and depressing one.

Certainly not! College and University are not for everyone. Some people simply can't afford it and others simply aren't interested or are not cut out for academic life. I actually thing far to many people go to university than probably should because they spend thousands of dollars on degrees which they never use or are worthless. For example my ex went to university and majored in sociology but could not get a job at all he was too qualified for menial lab our and not qualified enough with a bachelors in social;ogy to work in a social service job. Essentially he wasted 4 years and many thousands of dollars. While friends were making thousands in jobs like plumbing, construction, security etc. People who work in restaurants, stores mechanics etc are just as important to society as "professionals". Just for the record I did go to college

Typically, I wouldn't date a guy who didn't go to college. That having been said, I never got my degree, but no, I am not wasting my life. I am very well educated, I travel, I am raising 2 beautiful, strong, confident children (now teenagers) and I spend a lot of my time volunteering. I served an 18 month, full-time mission for my church in Vienna Austria. I have been involved in my children's schools and have been very involved in Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. I have been a tutor for Literacy Volunteers of America and a mentor to teenagers through the Junior League. I speak fluent English and German and have lived on 3 continents. I am currently involved in our neighborhood emergency preparedness committee and am working on an issue involving a proposed school district split that is of concern to our community. I have recently met with mayors, city councilmen, state representatives and senators regarding this issue. I am also working at bringing an anti-bullying campaign to our school district.

Wasting my life? I don't think so. Will I try to convince my children to get their degree? Absolutely.

♥ No... I dont think that at all. Some people aren't made for the college/university life and still make a wonderful life for themselves. I personally am attending a "career college" because the whole big college campus, having to take a gazillion classes that I dont need, classes of 200... that stuff isnt for me.

Not really; I didn't go to college, and barely got out of high school, but now, I have a decent job, but more importantly, I have my own business that I'm continuing to build, and I'll very soon be able to quit my job! By the way, going to College and getting a good job is not necessarily the key to having a better life. In my business, we show people how to build a business that works even when you're not working, and how to become financially independant and free.

I would never ever put anyone down for not going to College, or University. I highly recommend it though, especially this day and age we are living in. We are or have become so technical and highly advanced our children really need a Good Education to get any where in this life.
It is never to late to start either. If you haven't ever been go ahead and give it a try. You're never too old that is what I would say to anyone.

that has just kind of seemed how it's always soposed to be how i was raised... after elementry you go to middle school after that high school and then college...

i don't think their "wasting their life".. but i think if you dn't have a plan why wouldn't you go to college?
but now days you pretty much NEED a higher education then just high school to live comfortably...

i do know people who have done incredibly well w/o college/university.. my gpa makes six figures a year and didn't finish college but it doesn't happen for everyone.

i deff think its the best choice though.

No... If they choose to do the harder work that others don't/won't do, that's fine. College just isn't for some people. Then again, there are always people who waste their lives, but those people are in totally different category.

If it is the first mentioned people, no. No wasting life there.

Second mentioned people... of course. They're just lazy.
