My myspace account was deleted so a few hours ago I set up a new one and already I have over 100 friends simply because I have a scantily clad picture of myself as my default pic.My friend who is very sweet (albeit not so pretty) has only 4 friends so far eventhough she has much more interesting profile text. It's because she doesn't look as good as me.Men really are shallow aren't they? Discuss.
Oh and here's the link to my myspace page if you want to add me

you can't just get friends on myspace from having a skantily clad picture.Your face has to be at least average too

Sort of true. Men have differently wired brains to Women. This has been shown over and over again, and has been used successfully by women over the millennium.

Men's brains are wired more to visual clues. Women's brains are wired more to olfactory clues. This is one reason why porn exists so prevalently. This is not to suggest that women do not enjoy porn, but when a man looks at a picture of a naked or semi-naked woman, the same pleasure section of the brain that gets activated on eating something really nice gets switched on. This doesn't occur when a woman looks at a picture of either a naked or semi-naked man or woman.

However, when a woman eats or smells a piece of chocolate, that portion of the brain does switch on, giving pleasure, where it doesn't occur in a man's brain when he smells or eats a piece of chocolate.

We are different, men and women. Rejoice in the differences.

It isn't that men are shallow, it is that they are different.

There, that is my discussion.

It would seem to me that you are of the simple mind here. Your scantily clad picture is an obvious cry for attention and your insecurities play out as you need to bring down your very sweet, albeit not so pretty, friend. Luring men with sexuality doesn't make them simple, it is just the simple thing to do if you have nothing else to offer. A pile of dog droppings will attract a thousand flies but it doesn't increase the value of the droppings. I would suggest you learn to become interesting because scantily clad girls are a dime a dozen. And the true karma here is that you have been deleted (after being used by your 100 'friends' and your sweet interesting friend is still there.

I would suggest you get some character before you wind up old and alone.

Then why have a scantily clad picture? If you don't want yourself to be looked at negatively then don't do it. Don't you think that it puts out the wrong impression of you from the start. "Im game for anything." Only give the impression you want to give the impression of. Its a sad fact of life hunny.
If you're on the web showing practically everything then you put yourself up for abuse. Something worthless.

Yes....we're such animals....we only think in terms of sex, sex, and more sex, because the head below the abdomen dominates the body more so then the head on our shoulders!

I'm just joking. Of course, I'm sure if your friend puts on some scantily clad clothing and does a bit of photo manipulation, she will be many hits by those same guys that actually believe they can pick up on women by oooo-innggg and owww-inng!
It's natural for men to get turned on by looking....the same goes for women who get turned on by sweet talk.
By the way, don't you think it's a bit conceited to say you're better looking than your friend? Is'nt beauty in the eye of the beholder? If your friend see your note, I'm sure she'll be a bit hurt by your remark, "...she does'nt look as good as me."
You blame men for being shallow, yet you're acting shallow. You need to do a bit of personality readjustment.

Only the ones that link to your myspace page. You have to realise that there are perverts in the world and then there are plenty of nice guys who look for a bit of conversation rather than a scantily clad picture. I guess you want to attract the perverts of the world.....each to their own I guess.

From what I seen of your pic and not having a pic of your friend to compare to its hard to say. Judging from your pic the message comes through loud and clear that you are signaling that you are easy and ready to go. I look past defects to see the natural beauty and then look for the inter beauty. If you think men are simple minded then why are most women so vain that they have to dress scantily to get a man's attention in the first place?

a Russian immigrant with delusions of grandeur,is the only simple mind here!... from boiled cabbage to broadband you have made a not so impressive move...

Perhaps having guys 'adding you as a make believe friend' bolsters your fragile ego.who knows....who really cares.

regarding shallow genders, research into the history of make-up ,why woman originally wore lipstick etc...

Or perhaps you could find the time to read Freud's 'penis envy theory'.

Stick to what you do best, earning under £30,000 while kidding yourself into believing you actually matter in someones life.

How deep is it to create an id "pretty-yelena" and to post scantily clad pictures of yourself on the internet?

Don't fall for that ridiculous feminist idea. Men are simpler than women in some ways, and we are simpler than they in some ways. Women are just as prone to be superficial as men. It is a human condition, not a male affliction.

LOL, sounds like the only shallow person is YOU...

And FYI, the other girl you mentioned, she needs a better friend, cuz it doesn't seem like you're being a good one to her. It's one thing to be honest, it's another to be one of those girls that puts your "friends" down to make yourself feel better...
