I recently ( 4 weeks ago) had my oil changed and filter. While I was driving and would stop at lights and signs, the oil pressure light would blink on after 4 seconds of being stopped and then would go off and flash back on. It would do every other time I stopped. It was a hot day. I checked all fluids when the car was cool. All looked okay. Thoughts? There is no spots or puddles under the car or on the engine

Be sure the crankcase is full of oil after the motor is shut off. If that is okay, you either have a bad oil pressure sensor or the motor is running on low oil pressure. You will have to get that checked. Good luck.

It sounds like the oil pressure switch needs to be changed. If the engine isn't making a lot of noise, the oil pressure is probably fine, but while you are getting the switch changed, they can run a pressure test on the oil system to insure it is working properly. This shouldn't be that expensive so check around for pricing before you authorize any repairs.

An engine in a motor vehicle is under no circumstances an exact technological information. you have aspects that must be interior of a undeniable spec. Too loose and you get noise and untimely placed on...too tight and issues will start to snatch because of the fact the steel expands after heating up. for practically all GM automobiles (if I bear in mind properly), the production unit spec.'ed oil tension is (ideally) 10 psi for each a million,000 rpm and between 10 and 20 at idle (at working temp). that's completely conceivable that your rockers are not adjusted precisely acceptable. a sprint ticking isn't something to nitpick. After assembling an engine, the nicely-known prepare for shadetree mechanics is to run the rails down and back them off till they tick, then tighten them a million/2 a turn. (no longer an exact technological information). I left mine a sprint loose (to the place I had gentle ticking) as quickly as I outfitted the small block for my pickup and had no issues. a speedy holiday to a close-by storage which you believe can get you a mechanic to play the motor "by way of ear". he will better than possibly advise a undeniable oil (that he and his buddies and kinfolk swear by way of) and a undeniable type of filter out (comparable assertion as in the previous) to sparkling your situation acceptable up. additionally, it's going to be some thousand miles in the previous your motor is properly "broken in". substitute the oil and filter out at a pair hundred miles (to make specific the assembly lube or any final steel shavings from the machining technique do no longer deliver your oil filter out into bypass) and then back at 3,000. you could observe the gentle ticking flow away as quickly as you have broken the motor in. carry on with what you're doing and prepare regularly scheduled maintenance and you should be only effective.

Check which type of oil is put. OR else, have it checked by a mechanic in case it pops up as serious.
