Probate Court in NJ?

My wifes brother died 2 months ago. He had a small amount of money in bank account that he left to my wife. How along does it take for the court to release the money? The matter was handled by a lawyer.

similar in 1998. Father died and moved the money to my mother.
Was a relatively fast issue. Done in Hackensack.
