America is waaayyy too oversexed!! Since when should sexuality even be brought up in politics. Who cares???
But seriously, i would have to be honest and say a gay man wouldn't win a presidential election, not yet anyway.

Is the White House ready? Perhaps.
Is America ready? No chance in hell.
America doesn't like change. For over two hundred years, the President of the United States has been an old white guy. That's what the country is used to.
A woman President really shouldn't be that big of a deal. But it is. A black President really shouldn't be that big of a deal. But, for some reason, it is. And not just for the people already in power. Some candidates run on the idea that America should be color- or gender-blind when it comes to politics...then they campaign USING their race or gender as a catapult.
I hate politics.
Back to the question.
If I agreed with his policies and values, I would vote for a gay President. I wouldn't vote for him BECAUSE he was gay; that shouldn't matter.
But it would matter to America. And that's why it won't happen for a very long time.

I would like to see it happen within the next 12 years.
First get rid of Bush, and then put in a successor who is going to work the country back out of the morass that Bush forced it into these past years. Give him a double term so he can finish implementing all his good ideas.
Then give the U.S. it's first woman president. Look how long ago Golda Meier ruled Israel with an iron fist, and then Margaret Thatcher in England?! It is way past time for the Americans to put their own female President in place, just so that the world can be shown that American women can be just as strong as the women in the rest of the world.
By that time the laws will be changed that prevent double terms for sitting presidents...to prevent real powerful dynasties being formed and exploited by anyone.
And then I would like to see the very next President being obviously and commitedly gay. Maybe even having his own marriage partner who will stand by his side during the victory announcement, and have their adopted family ranged around them.
America needs to bring itself into the 21st century. And that includes recognizing that gays and lesbians are just as much a part of "ordinary society" as straight people. Give them the right to get married, to make proper homes for those children they have been allowed to adopt for years. To do anything less is to devalue them as people. And that is just not right.

Unfortunately, probably not yet. Let's try for a woman president or a Black president first.
If there was a gay candidate running for president and he or she was the best qualified, I would defenitely vote for the gay candidate.

Would the fact that the person is gay have to be on the agenda? I would not vote for one if they felt they had to tell. It is running for the good of the country that counts.

I'd vote for a gay candidate. Let's face it, it couldn't be worse than what's in office now.
I don't care about anyone else's sex life, unless it involves non-consenting minors or animals. I don't worry about my neighbors, parents, or friends sex lives anymore than they care about mine.
If the candidate was honest and had the sack to stand up for what is right for this country, I'd vote for him/her in a heartbeat. It's time this country tried something other than white, older, males, for president.

As a gay man I do not see this happening in my life time, I'm 79. There is still far too much prejudice against us. I do hope to see a black one real soon. That will be a major step in the right direction.

No. I would not vote for a gay person. Nor would I vote for a Hillary; a woman, yes, but not that one.

Not right now because there're only so few people who're open-minded to others.
Perhaps when more become open-minded,there'll be a Gay President.I wouldn't mind voting.
