any suggestions for plants that will look good in window boxes and planters for autumn & winter months, not bothered about colour just dont want the spaces empty, thanks to all who reply

Pansies for window boxes and Helleborus for large planters or garden beds. Helleborus bloom in the winter and are quite beautiful. Here are some pics of their flowers.

Flowering cabbage or Kale,and Pansy should keep you into late Dec. or January in a colder climate. After that just take cuttings from the bottom of Christmas tree or holly and stick branches in the flower box to fill in space for the remainder of winter......

you dont say which zone you are in but I am thinking marigolds,irises , violets and etc . If you really want good advice go talk to a nursery and ask someone there . they will know what plants do best in the winter months in your zone . good luck .
