If you are not an American, why do you care? If you are, form your own opinion.

A Canadian perspective here....

I believe that Bush lacks the intelligence necessary to lead a country such as the United States. Therefore, he has been surrounded by those with greater intelligence and experience. Sadly, those people also lack integrity. Which fits in well with the moral compass of this president.

I think he is arrogant and smarmy, and sees his presidency as a ticket to do whatever the heck he wants...ignoring the wishes of his employers...the American public.

All in all, I see him as a great embarassment to a once great nation and has single handedly taken the economic state of the US directly into the toilet. Look at the US$ at present...its only going to get worse.

I think that he has made good decisions and bad. You really can't say how good or bad of a president he's been and yell at them until you've been in their shoes. Their job is extremely hard. Every president is always criticized no matter what. History always repeats itself. If hilary wins the election, there will be ads all over the internet saying shoot hilary and win a million dollars, just like the ones about bush. I think that the president has already been shot enough at by the remarks of many americans and he probably has to worry about getting shot by cheney

I like Bush personally, but I'm less wild about him as president.

He's done a few things right that Democrats will never give him credit for, particularly the economy.
**Bush has kept the economy going well, and pulled us out of a recession that he inherited from Clinton. And even after 9-11 prolonged the recession, the recovery came anyway, and Bush's tax cut played a part in the speedy recovery.
** Bush selected two highly qualified Supreme Court justices, although that was largely due to the Republican party's objections to Harriet Miers, that leveraged him to pick two candidates after that were beyond reproach.
** Organizing international support for invasion of Afghanistan.
** Initial strong leadership in the Months after 9-11, up till the Iraq invasion.

I like that Bush stuck to his guns regarding the Iraq war, despite a huge loss of popular support when things were going badly.
And now with the troop surge in Iraq, even liberal reporters, including the New York Times (pulitzer winner John Burns) acknowledge military success and a noticeable turning of the tide there in recent months.
But Bush deserves criticism for taking way too long to fire Rumsfeld and shift strategy in Iraq, as has finally occurred.

Bush has also been way too loyal to guys like Don Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, and Alberto Gonzalez. His reluctance to fire incompetent non-performers is an embarrassment.

My biggest objections to Bush are:

** his amnesty for illegals proposal, and refusing to secure our borders.
** His vastly increasing the national debt.
** lack of control over domestic congressional spending.

I think Bush truly beleives in what he's doing, and his commitment to what he believes is right (sometimes wrongly) is admirable. It's nice to have a president who believes in something and doesn't just shift his views to match the polls.

If things stabilize in Iraq, 20 years from now Bush will be praised as the man of conviction who invaded Iraq when no one else would have, and made the world is better for it.

But the debt he accumulated will be with us a long time.
As will the millions of illegals he let in our borders.

So.. some right things, some wrong things.

I've never seen a president so hated by his opposition as Bush.
But I think Democrats have done much to discredit themselves with the level of personal viciousness with which they've attacked Bush.

It's one thing to dislike Bush's policies, and respectfully point out the flaws in those policies. This might have won them some converts.
It's quite another to bitterly attack the man himself, with all kinds of mean-spirited personal insults and wild conspiracy theories. (If Bush is "an idiot", monkey, puppett, chimp, whatever, how could he pull off all these ingenious deceptions he's accused of, without anyone coming forward to write a multi-million-dollar bestseller expose of it?)

Even when Bush has been wrong, the left somehow manages to look even more stupid, with their infantile namecalling, and utter lack of alternative solutions.

He is okay. I just think he is getting killed by the press. He has a sense of humor (humour, for you Canadians) but, most people don't get him. We can do better. However, as Douglas Adams said,"Anyone capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be aloud to do the job".
There is always a base to pander to. We in the GOP have the bible thumpers. The DEMs have the California style fruits and nuts. A centrist like myself will not get elected.

As long as I can remember, the consistent lament of Americans was: "When are we going to get a president that actually does what he says he's going to do"

Now they got one and they want to hang him from the nearest tree.

Americans are the boss they always complain about.

But, having said that, it seems to work for them. America is the most powerful and most productive nation in history.

Quite a paradox, 'eh?

Are you kidding? This is a far left liberal company site and the most answers you're going to get are the crackpots who hate or don't like him at all. I have my own reservations on some of his ideas (don't want illegals in this country) but over all he's not bad.

This question has been answered hundreds of times, but as a courtesy to those who require a lot of repetition, he is one of America's greatest presidents. He is a statesman who does the right thing without worrying about liberal public opinion. He is a steadfast leader who studies a problem, sees a solution and puts it into action. He knows that America is the greatest nation in the history of the world and refuses to lead it into third world status. He is despised by those "americans in name only", who occupy our country without contributing to it's greatness, while using every benefit available.

Total loser. Certifiable nut case. Needs to be committed into an asylum immediately before he totally ruins our country and humiliates us further.

I voted for him both times and would vote for him a 3rd time if I could. He has been a steadfast leader in the war on terror. Hes upheld the rights for the unborn, opposed the gay agenda, and helped keep America terror-free by going on the offense. He also puts up with a constant media onslaught of people that hate him and accuse him of all kinds of vile things.

He really hasnt been very great at balancing the budget or reigning in govt spending however and places like conservative talk radio have been very vocal about that. But he has done everything he could to ensure the economy keeps rolling along like it has and increased revenues will help keep the budget manageable.
