I have an audition tomorrow for a casting company. It will be in front of the camera and I have never auditioned in front of a camera before - just up on stage. I have a monologue prepared, and they will give me a script to cold-read also. I am very nervous, but don't want to mess up a good opportunity.

Are there any tips you can give me on what to do/ what not to do?
Also, I normally wear very minimal make-up, if any at all, but I think I should put something on to sort of even out my tone - any ideas/ hints? Obviously I want it to look natural and not over the top.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, you did not say she did not know how to do a cold-read or monologue, you just wanted tips.

I have a tip, a simple one, but I have been told that a lot of people do not know how to do a proper slate. All a slate is is 'your name, your age (depending on how old you are, may not be required), and your agent. Practice that as much as possible.

One has to ask, What company? If they ask you for any money at any time, say no thanks and leave, cause they are a scam. If you do not know how to do cold readings, then you should not be auditioning, cause you are not ready--another indication that this may be a scam.. How did you get this audition? The first tip on what not to do would be don't do the audition. Wear your normal make up, Deliver your monologue to the red light on the camera as though it is your scene partner. Love the camera. Let me know the answers to my questions and if you do the audition, let me know how it goes.

DO NOT LISTEN TO "TheatreDoc" he himself is a scam (selling his book Online! & then giving kids advice)

Make-up: DO NOT wear heavy make up, people auditioning you want to see what you really look like infront of the camera.

Your Piece: Have it memorized!
Cold Reading: Take your Time reading it! (No one will rush you1

TIP:
1. Before you are ready to go on. Pinch your cheeksand move them around. This will make your mouth less Dry.

2. Before getting on camera w/ Lights and all will make you HOT and sweaty: Run cold water on your wrist. (This will make you Less sweaty and Hot)

BREAK A LEG! Remember: Bring a Parent or Friend with you.

PS: Do NOT look at the red Light on the camera! Look at the other person Giving you THE Line before yours and after you.
If monologe: Look at the people auditioning you.

If they are going to do cold reading, try to make a decission about what you want the character to be like and go for it. Of course don't show that you are nervous, once you do that......forget it. They will see that as inexperience. Go all out, don't hold back. If you have any questions make sure you ask them before you start. Maybe where the scene takes place or anything that will help you. Make sure you know what Slate means of course......if you don't have heavy makeup on in your 8x10, then don't do it in person. Look like your photo.

I have never done what you are about to do. I would be my self,if they do not like it ,tough on them, then make them sorry sorry sorry for passing you over when you make it big after your next audition. I have no doubts about your ability and your belief in yourself go out and enjoy and you will be great.Break a leg.

When you're there, smile and laugh and enjoy it because they will want a person who is enjoying what they're doing and having a good time at it !
