Is there a guarantee that if you live a certain way that you will get to Heaven? Does anyone have proof that it exists?
We have a fear of the unknown. No one is perfect. It seems that people may be afraid that their sins will catch up with them and they may not end up in Heaven, especially those that like to tell others that they will go to Hell. I think they are the most afraid. Why would you say that to someone? I don't get it.

Only God knows when our time is due. We do think heaven will be wonderful but as humans, we are still worried about the pain of death, and leaving loved ones behind. Esp. if we have young kids. I don't think old people are trying to avoid death. Some look forward to the peace esp. once everyone they know has passed on and if they are satisfied with their live. I myself would Rather die than be hooked up to a machine.

Existence and survival are human instincts. Going to heaven when you die is a thing to aspire to, but doesn't necessarily need to be rushed to achieve. Your calling in life is to be what you can be to the best of your ability, and if you live a long life, your self-achievements may lead you on the right path to heaven at any rate. Most people who believe in heaven believe they'll die when it's God's will and will end up there when God says they are ready.

It's not that people are trying to avoid going to heaven, it's that they rely on the simple fact that it may not be their time. (God only knows)

Only time will tell.

My sister in law is receiving chemo and radiation at 28 and was told 3 mths ago she has cancer at a level 4 (severe) She undergoes this in hopes that she will have more time with loved ones but will accept her fate if it is not successful. This doesn't affect her thinking that heaven is wonderful or not.

Lots of reasons.

1. Dying still hurts.

2. God didn't send us down here to die and go to heaven. He sent us here to live out our lives the best we can. We are here to survive.

3. Heaven is great, and allegedly eternal. Life still has its advantages, and we want to enjoy our lives as long as we can! It is NOT permanent, unlike heaven, so it has its own value.

4. Life is God's gift. If you believe in God, why wouldn't you want to keep God's gift as long as you could? Heaven will always be there. Life will not.

Heaven and Hell are just symbolic concepts. Actually Heaven is not somewhere above amidst the clouds. It is here on this earth. If you make your life joyous and happy, it will be wonderful - i.e your home will be a Heaven. Otherwise it will be Hell.

because there are temptations around which people are drawn to.. if there was nothing then everyone would be going to heaven right?
and people avoid dying because the concept of death scares them and it is a topic that not many people know much about so that is why when people talk about death they do not like it because noone likes not to know sufficient information on something.. :)

I dont avoid dying. it is a fact that will take us all. i wouldnt go out of the way to kill myself as that would be a sin that would perhaps keep you out of heaven. it is in God's hands when i die. as long as i have work here, i imagine i will be here.
