and please let me say that "voting to authorize the President to use force" does not equal "Congress declaring war"!!
Congress has not (to the best of my knowledge) declared war since WW II.

I think in the future that would be a good Idea no a really great idea - dont get me wrong the president needs to have the power to use force if there is an immediate and direct (meaning here and now in the Homeland as some like to call it ) threat - otherwise declare war because the words authorization to use force kind of minimalizes the fact that we are going to war -

By authorizing the use of force, congress gave the president the 'permission' to invade Iraq, in essence, go to war with Iraq. What did you think it meant? Smack Saddam on the butt with a wet towel?
