I always felt it was Apple's way of saying you're an idiot for buying one. In other words idiotPod.

Initially (iMac) it stood for Internet but it has become household so it's across the board.

All of the Apple products have some sort of tie to the internet so it works out for products and Apps such as iPhone, iChat, iSight, iPod, iLife, et cetera.

Yes maybe before it did ^ but now I think:
The "I" is just a way of saying "my"...it is like a way to make it more personal...the "I"pod..the "my"pod lol...
