I've had so many bad experiences with math, perhaps even having dyscalculia.I went to a terrible school that never taught. Now,I go to a great school that actually teaches.I wouldn't say I passed Algebra 1,my old school passes anyone, and I never really learned Algebra. Now in my current new school I'm going to be a junior and taking Algebra 2! I'm nervous, stress etc.I have till August 20th to learn on my own.I downloaded an Algebra Basic Software. And it's incredible it taught me well! So this is what I learned to do so far,I still got a lot to go..right? :(
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rules to remember:
1.Multiplication or division of two terms with similar signs will result in a positive term.
2.Multiplication or division of two terms with different signs will result in a negative term.
Then, they gave me problems to slove like these and i can't believe I got them right.maybe I can do algebra?
10 c x ( -7d) = -70cd
or 3d x ( - 8 e)= 24de

I know I may be behind, but perhaps with practice I can catch up.I'm unable to get a tutor. So,I'll have to do this on my own.
I don't know if I will have enough time to learn the basics till school starts, that being that I have to study U.S history just to prepare as well.

Sorry,I guess I was just expressing myself lol.
I just wanted to know if I was on the right track..And wanted some encouragement since i already don't get support at home, and I'm quite isolated.

What's your question?
It sounds like you're dedicated and with that, some time and patience, you'll have no problem. Just talk to your teacher on the first day and tell her/him that you might have a hard time and ask if he/she would mind sitting with you after school to go over some concepts. Most teachers LOVE when students take that initiative.
If you need a ride home after tutoring because you'll miss the bus, ask the teacher if they could give you a ride. Mine always did and they never minded.

well, ur off to a good start, but I think u r just touching the basics of algebra. Here r some more topics u should know before going into algebra 2:
solving 1 variable equations
solving systems of equations
solving/graphing inequalities
solving quadratic equations
factoring quadratic equations
the quadratic formula.
If this seems like a lot, try to break it up. Maybe u can borrow one of the algebra textbooks from ur new school, and that will help u learn all the topics the other students did. If u really r having a problem, u can ask to be put back into the algebra 1 class for awhile, maybe that will help. Also, in the algebra 2 book, they will probably review some of the stuff learned in algebra 1. If u still r having trouble, try emailing me, I mite be able to help

"10 c x ( -7d) = -70cd" is right because different signs will result in a negative term.
"3d x ( - 8 e)= 24de" is not right because you missed a negative sign before 24.

It is never too late as long as you start trying to learn. To learn algebra II well, you need to have very solid algebra I background. If you have any question in algebra I, just post it here. I am sure you can get some ideas in 5 minutes.

It is good to hear that you are trying hard in spite of difficult circumstances.
Algebra is not difficult so long as you obey a few basic rules.
You correctly state two rules , these being:-
Multiplication
-ve x -ve = +ve
+ve x +ve = +ve
Division
-ve ÷ -ve = + ve
+ve ÷ +ve = + ve
+ve ÷ - ve = - ve
- ve ÷ + ve = - ve
Examples
(- 4) x (- 2) = 8
5 x 3 = 15
(-12) ÷ (- 4) = 3
20 ÷ 4 = 5
40 ÷ (-10) = - 4
(- 80) ÷ 4 = - 20
Please note that in your example:-
3d x (- 8e)
= 3 x d x (- 8) x e
= 3 x (- 8) x d x e
= (- 24) d e
Good luck---try hard.

When you google 'algebra tutorial', there is an online tutorial from west texas a & m university that is very good for review. Look for 'wtamu' in the website name. Good luck! Take it one step at a time, study in an organized way and you won't feel overwhelmed. Review the basics over and over, even when you are studying Algebra II.

first : 10 c x ( -7d) = -70cd
it is simple. You multiply the signs first, than the numbers and then the rest : + x ( - ) is -
10 x 7 is 70
c x d is cd (because they are unknown )
correct answer : - 70cd
The second one : 3d x ( - 8 e)= 24de
+ x ( - ) is -
3 x 8 is 24
d x e is de (because they are unknown )
correct answer : - 24de
Good luck

Go on now that you've got high spirit. Algebra is not so hard to learn in as long as you really desire to learn it. To know if you really desire to learn is to see that you devote a lot of time to study it.
