Even though I'm the one who broke it off 4 months ago I still feel the pain. It feels like I've experienced a death of a loved one. The problem with this is that I think I'm getting over it, and then when I least expect it the pain and memories slap me upside the head. When I get up in the morning, at work, taking a shower. I know that eventually time will heal my wounds but is there anything I can do in the meantime to keep me from feeling so miserable?

hi hon... it took me over 2 years to get over my last love.

grieving is a process, and does exist after a break up. it takes time to move forward, accept things and feel better about life.

you can probably do a web search on COPING AFTER A BREAK UP, GRIEVING A BREAK UP to see what advice others might have to offer? It's worth a try.

I suppose you have a handle on it, if you feel you need to stay active in your spare time. Friends, family, a karate class, joining the gym, a walking program for exercise, a hobby are all great and help to pass the time.

You will go through spells of feeling miserable, also. It's part of the process. This will all pass in time. Keep the good memories close. I was always thankful for those, even thought sometimes it hurts. hugs!!!

I find that watching comedy movies always made me feel better after a break-up, you get to laugh again. Try spending more time with friends and family..take up a new hobby...anything to keep yourself busy. Find a new bf/gf.

I have always liked music. there are so many styles and subjects. it has always helped me, through the deaths of my sister, dad and godfather, both of my marriages, the births of my children, the beautiful relationship I'm in now. music doesn't have to be helpful through the hard times, but gives me joy during the good times too!
