because there is little energy in plant food so the animal needs to consume far more to keep the energy levels up, wheras carnivores eat meat which contains more protein and fat, so they are less likely to need more

Carnivores eat a lot of protein(meat) which has a lot of energy in it and herbivores need to eat more to compensate.

Its all to do with energy and nutrition, like protein has more nutrition in it then plant materials so therefore herbivores will have to eat more to get the equal amount of nutrients

many carnivors are smaller in body size than the herbivors. i dont think i want to see a cat with the penis of a hippo

There is a lot of fiber and so they need to eat more to get needed energy. Meat is devoid of fiber and hence is more concentrated as an energy source.

Coz they only eat certain types of plants and sometimes they are hard to find and even if they find some, it doesn't completely fill them up.
