aprently you can tss from using tampons :S how do you stop yourself from getting an infection and what does it stand for..?

TSS is Toxic Shock Syndrom.
To prevent it just don't leave a tampon in for longer than 8 hours. (according to the Tampax Pearl box--and I think that they'd know what they were talking about)

TSS stands for Toxic Shock Syndrome. You get it by keeping a tampon in for 6 hours or longer.
