Parallel refers to the property of two or more lines that never intersect each other no matter how long you extend them. The opposite of Parallel lines are those that at some point intersect each other. These are called Non-Parallel lines. Perpendicular lines are just a special case of Non-Parallel lines where the lines intersect each other at 90 degrees.
