i went through training the same time as a woman how is like 20 years older than me. but i have to go out and get carts just like everyone else. but it seems like the older people don't have to get the carts. i have the same job description as the older woman so why isn't she getting carts? idon't know maybe i'm making a big deal out of nothing but it just seems kinda unfair.

that is why they hire the young people.... to get the carts... I loved doing that when I worked int the grocery store.. I would just listen to my walkman (am I dating myself?... we didn't have ipods then...lol)..

Yeah, it does sound like it. If you both have the same job description then she should be able to get the carts just like you do. Just because she is older doesn't give them a reason to make her job any easier. You are getting paid just like she is, right?
Maybe you can say something nicely to the boss or supervisor. Ask them why you are having to get the carts all the time, or just tell them how you feel about it. You want to have a boss that will atleast listen to you.

The older employees will throw a fit you if ask them to get the carts. Seriously. You will have a chance to show yourself more of an employee if you get the carts. Trust me....

Well that is called age discrimination unless the older people all have physical reasons why they can't do it. But safety in the workplace comes first so maybe find out why that is the way it is. It may not be discriminatory. It may be a safety and welfare issue.

Maybe it's because she has more work experience than you. After all, she is 20 years older than you, she's probably worked at many different places by now compared to you.

Good luck!

she probably moaned about the same thing at your age.

Im sure shes done her fair share of that type of work, and plus, youre less likely to fall over and break a bone (bones get weaker when older) then sue.

My job there is a lot of discrimination. There is a lady who makes 5.00 dollars on the hour then I do and it is her job to do it but my boss makes me do it because she has gotten to old that is his excuse he gives me I know it is age discrimination but the main boss doesn't care.

Maybe she has a medical excuse that would be confidential, and you would never know about it. Suck it up and do your job, or find another one.
