Also, will it protect the wood from natural elements and termites? Any good websites that sell siding so I can get an idea of the options out there?

not as much as the salesman will try to convince you it will

you should expect that you save money on the periodic repainting that wood requires and won't get a nickel more when you sell the house. while this is a pessimistic view, it is a lot safer than the pie in the sky those salesmen try to sell.

{Did you see the movie "Tin Men"? There's a reason it starred Danny DeVito -- a great comedy actor.}

natural elements, yes --- termites, NO

Having the low-maintenance of siding might appeal to buyers if other aspects of the house are also low-maintenance. But if the house doesn't have the overall impression of being low-maintenance, I don't feel it would increase the value that much.

According to most of the property-flipping shows, you get the most return-on-investment from rennovating kitchens and bathrooms, and a general sprucing-up of the property.

Are you talking about aluminum or vinyl? No, of course it doesn't, it just looks cheap, kind of like that fake wood paneling trailers have in them, only outside. I suppose if you are talking about a really cheap little place it would be OK. But, you want to stick to wood, brick or stucco in a normal house.

Vinyl siding will not add a dime to the value, but it will protect the wood.
