Well,

Meditation helps increasing both. But what it definately helps most is in realizing the existance of oneself and increasing wisdom that comes with it. It does helps us in intutions, but doing for the sake of it isnt helpful.

The goal of mediatetion from spiritual point of view is to reach a state of thoughtless ness. That is recognition of oneself where mind is calm and quiet. But meditation does help in real life too. It is the process where you can calm down the chaos and noise in your mind and increase mental focus.

There are many ways of meditation. Many people think that meditation requires a calm place and insence sticks and what not. But on general basis it can be done any where, any time.

hope this helps.

It probably doesn't INCREASE IQ etc., but meditation certainly gives us better access toward actualizing our IQ and in touch with our intuitive senses! It calms the mind and body as well as our "super-ego" that often cancells creative use of our faculties!
