I also like mixed breed rescue dogs. Ones with German Shepherd or Doberman in them are my favorite. My own dog, Tara, was a rescue, shes German Shepherd/Kelpie mix, and she's the best dog in the world, talented at obedience work and an accredited animal companion...as a puppy she was kicked nearly to death and thrown over a fence to die.. you couldn't find a better natured dog in the world... also mixed breed dogs don't suffer any of the sicknesses that pure breed dogs do, due to in-breeding.

Get a mutt. They have the best personalities. Mutts have less health problems. If you can get a rescue dog you will feel great when people ask you where you got him/her. I have two,1 Rottie/Lab, 1 Boxer/Pit. Both are awesome dogs!
Too many people are too worried about pure breeds and AKC papers. I do think it is important to keep a breed going but, WE ARE ALL MUTTS and so are dogs if you go back far enough. Unless you are planning to breed your dog RESCUE one, you will be glad you did.

Aww! I love any kind of puppy really. But when my bassett hound was a puppy, he was soooo adorable! Those great big brown puppy dog eyes were just too much to handle!

I love golden retrievers and pugs. Maybe my answer is biased because I have a pug and a golden retriever.
However....
I like golden retrievers because they are smart and beautiful dogs. They are very hyper and chew lots when they're puppies though
I like pugs because they are very friendly dogs and they love everybody. They don't have a mean bone in their body. Also they're so ugly they're cute...somebody has to love them right?

I love english bulldogs..don't have one too expensive for me. But I have a boston terrier and a shih-tzu they were great as puppies.
