is it possible to share files through an adsl modem with 4 ports without a hub.

If your adsl modem has 4 ports it is probably a ROUTER. A standard modem can not connect more than ONE computer as it has no way to "route" the connections.

So if you have an adsl modem with four ports those ports will have local addresses. With local addressing you can share files etc as that builds a local network.

The quick way to check is check your computers IP address. If it is something like 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x then you have a lan address.

If your DSL network bridge has 4 ports, then it is also a hub or a switch.

You should be able to connect multiple machines to the 4 ports and share files.

sure..as long as u have setup ur LAN, then u can share the file for the computer within the network. there is nothing related with hub or switch.

Sure turn on file sharing and select what files you want to share. I use the printer on my desk top from my laptop all the time.
