If you go outside around midnight, and look into the sky for while, you should see some. Tonite and tomorrow nite. Some are rather faint and others are bright. But they streak very quickly and vanish. You have to be patient. Sometimes none occur for several minutes. Sometimes you can spot 2 or 3 in a minute. It varies. It helps to lie back in a lawn chair while watching. Last night between 11:30 and midnight I saw 14.

Last night was the peak activity. I got up at 4:00AM and saw only 2 in 20 minutes. But my daughter saw 6. Still, 6 in 20 minutes is only 18 per hour, far from the 50 to 80 per hour forecast. That was probably because I was in the suburbs and the sky was not very dark. Most of the ones my daughter saw were really dim, which is probably why my old eyes didn't see them, even though I was looking right at some of them.

Look in your local paper for Perseid Shower. It should tell you times -- but generally you should be able to see them after it gets dark in your area until around dawn. Last night was the best night, but you should be able to still see some tonight.

I was out last night for only about an hour between ten and eleven o'clock and saw about 10. Some really magnificent ones, so I'm thinking now is a good time. :)

August is usually about right. Watch out as we approach midnight and a little beyond. This year has been odd alltogether so don't take my word for it. I saw loads last night though.

You can see best when the sky is clear. If you are in a city the dust and pollution is high and causes a mist. This clears off after rainy season. So view the sky after the rainy season is over in your country
