Don't people understand that less than half of the eligible voters in this country don't bother to vote now? If people want to protest what's going on in Washington, they should be trying to get even more people to vote. It would scare the hell out of DC if 70 or 80% of the eligible voters turned out, rather than the usual 38% or so.

I think everyone should vote, If you do not vote, you do not have a right to complain in my opinion, I hope people will register to vote now and start voting now so that when the presidential elections everyone can vote. Good question

I agree. In some countries like Brazil, it is mandatory to vote. They should make election day a Holiday so that it would be easier for more people to get to the polls. Thats what they do in Brazil anyway, it is a Holiday there.

Ignorance. If I don't get my way, then why should I bother? That's what people who do not encourage others to vote think. Unfortunately, only a small percentage of us know that in order to have change, we need to start reacting.

That is how they retain control of the population. Keep them so dispirited and cynical that most people stop voting. That way, it is easy to get small fringe groups motivated with fringe issues that swing elections.
Notice which party does everything it can to get more people registered to vote and which party works overtime disqualifying people from voting.

I would love to see more people vote. I would also, however, love to see more people educate themselves before voting, and not just voting based on their friends opinions, headlines, and campaign lies (spelled promises)

People have stopped voting because the politicians who get elected do not represent the people. They spend all their time trying to get re-elected and holding on to power.
If voting changed things it would be illegal.

I think I can explain the situation. Some people suggest it because they or the person they are suggesting it to has no faith in the Democratic system so why vote.
Its not correct, but some do believe that.
