No, it's not a hoax, but how RUDE some people are being! The asker never came out and said that it was a hoax, that's why he's asking. Many people do not believe the horrors that happened, whether it was too unbelievable or whether they don't think it even happened (Believe you me, there are psychos out there that believe this) OP just wants to get his facts straight. :/

It's not a hoax, the diary was found by a friend of the Franks and kept until after the war. There are still people alive who knew the Franks personally, although they are now very old.

No, it's not:)
he diary, which was given to Frank on her thirteenth birthday, chronicles her life from June 12, 1942 until August 1, 1944. It was published as The Diary of a Young Girl and eventually translated from its original Dutch into many languages and became one of the world's most widely read books. There have also been several films, television, theatrical productions, and even an opera based on the diary. Described as the work of a mature and insightful mind, it provides an intimate examination of daily life under Nazi occupation and in hiding; through her writing, Frank has become one of the most renowned and discussed of Holocaust victims.
The Diary is most important for its record of the daily lives of real individuals who lived in constant fear because of the Nazis and their irrational persecutions. It puts names and faces on the kind of human disaster that is all too often described in terms of mere numbers.
The other significant aspect of the Diary is its portrait of Anne herself. Her writings combine observations on the overall situation with observations about her own life and self, with a surprising degree of perception.

Providing you're reading the correct book, it's definately not a hoax. I've been to Amsterdamn and seen the house and attic that she and her family hid in. Her diary has been translated into many different languages but even allowing for things being lost in translation, it ain't no hoax

I don't see how it could be a hoax.
A tremendous amount of research has been done on it. Her father was interviewed by hundreds if not thousands of journalists. Other survivors of the War who knew her have been interviewed. Hundreds of books have been written either about her family or about her family and other Jewish people in Holland during that time.
Are you saying that maybe she didn't exist? I don't see how that could be true.
Are you saying that maybe her father altered the diary before it was published? Yes, I know that that is true. He took out such things as her speculation about sex, her writing about getting her period, and her calling her mother a *****.

Maybe you perceive it as a hoax because it ends abruptly and somehow unconvincingly plot-wise. Further explanations only add to the doubt. But it's the true diary of a girl, take it as it is.

No, it's a real work of non-fiction, recovered and published by Anne's father Otto after the war. It's legitimacy has been verified a dozen times over.
You really need to learn more about the history of the last century, laddy.

Very real. Very true. Very sad. Sadder still is that there are people who wish to deny the holocaust. I can't believe there is a whole movement of people who claim the millions of jews killed in the concentration camps is a lie. I hope you are not one of those people. Checking the facts is easy. There is no room for doubt. Those who deny are doing it for political reasons. They are working to set the stage so that it can happen again. Long live the truth!
