Well, let me tell you. He hired me and another person to work as tutors and told us that we would get paid something close to minimum wage. In actuality we were supposed to get paid closer to double minimum wage. He took the excess money that was supposed to be ours and built a nice little computer lab for himself. He was very good at manipulating things to his own satisfaction.
Wow - I really miss him - don't you???

Oh, my I had a lot of bad bosses. The first bad boss was a man and had it out for me because I was a woman. I was also a pawn in this little game between him and my immediate supervisor. He was too into everything I was doing as a teacher. He had unrealistic expectations that kept changing on a weekly basis. I would improve one thing and five more criticisms would pop. I couldn't please him if my life or his depended.
Then there was my last boss, who told me that she hated being the boss, but she was owner and boss of the place where we worked. She lived up to that by not holding people accountable. She allowed my assistant to hit her oldest son in the head right in front of all the other children. She allowed a lot. I also felt like I had to be the one to do many of the managerial tasks even though I was not getting paid for my efforts. : (

She was terrible. She talked behind the employee's backs. She called you names. She gossiped. She had pets. If you weren't her pet for the week watch out cause that meant you were the one she hated for the week. She would call her boss and talk about you so he hated you too even though he never really met you. You never knew what to expect when you came into work. She would put notes on the time clock about employees for things that she should have talked to them one on one about. For example, there was a girl working there that had bad teeth and really bad breath. She wrote a note on the time clock saying " Attention customers have complained about oral hygiene particularly bad breath. Please brush your teeth or chew gum or eat breath mints." That was not exactly the words but it was close. The girl came in and knew it was her. She went into the bathroom and cried. When I saw the note I wanted to rip it down but knew I would probably get in trouble. She accused me of not being a good worker when I did everything there. I had even started doing her job so she could leave early every day. When I decided to leave she told me that I would not succeed in the place that I was going and gave me reasons as to why I wouldn't and that I should stay where I was. She was all the things a manager shouldn't be and more.

It was my uncle. They did a study out of UC Davis in Northern California. He was rated the worst boss in his county. He would get into fist fights with customers. He was insanely paranoid. The employees he trusted were stealing from him. The ones who told him about it (including me) were distrusted. He would always moan about, "How he was too giving, and too nice to people." He inherited the business and never learned to work for people so he became an unhinged tyrant. He has helped me in one significant way. I can work for anyone now. No one is worse than him. No one is more unreasonable. I've run into ex-employees of his over ten years later who still talk about the horror stories. The one satisfaction most of get is to hear him groan when he hears how good we are doing at our new companies ("I don't understand why they didn't do that for me"). Living well is truly the best revenge.

I worked for a dentist who was a drunk. He insulted us in front of the patients and mistreated the children. I watched him make a little boy throw up by continually hitting the back of the boys tongue with the hand mirror. He also accused us of lying if we had to call in late or sick. His hands shook constantly, and I lost 2 teeth because of his shoddy work. He ended up in a nursing home, and is now dead.

She was a snake in a suit. She felt threatened by me even though I honored my position with tact and professionalism. I ended up transferring. My former position has not been filled which means she is having to do my job AND her job. That gives me a great deal of satisfaction.
