If you will let them, they will eat all the babies. Usually during birth and two hours around/during that, the momma isn't hungry, and therefore, doesn't eat her fry. The other fish in the tank see the little bundles of joy as live, fast moving, ready to catch, delicous food. If you have a ton of plants, a big tank with places to hide, and few fish, some will survive to grow bigger. Your best bet is to buy a plastic breeder box to put her in a week or so before her birth (not too late because she will abort) or let her have the babies in the tank, then scoop them out after they are born and place them in the plastic breeder. That way, some will get eaten, but some will be left over. (using that method I got 16 fry out of my molly and none of them have died yet because I left them in there for two hours before scooping them out. It was survival of the fittest.)

It depends on how many hiding spots there are. The guppies will eat the ones they can catch! Some fry are quick and smart and hide real well. If there are plenty of tiny hiding spots for the fry then more will survive. Good hiding spots are places where the fry will fit, but the adults won't. Like, stacked up pebbles and river rocks, java moss, and other bushy type plants.

They will eat as many as they can catch, any adult fish in the tank will do this, not just your guppies. So if you have tetras, platys or other kinds of fish in the tank when your female guppy has the babies, all of them will try to catch and eat the young. In a normal community tank, very few babies will survive.

They consume them as nature, thats why you are able to desire to be the mummy of the fry, i purely have been given 23 swordtail fry a million hour in the past i lost 5, yet there is alot of this we can all do to stop this. Feed the fish at the same time as in delivery. yet in infant seize. the main important reason is by technique of the fact the puppy shops you purchase them from feed them shifting issues as treats at the same time with shrimp its somewhat elementary for a fish to get mixed with its very own fry to a brine shrimp. So strengthen the fry up with blood trojan horse, and dry meals they wont even comprehend what there youthful would be. desire i helped you
