I put my little girl in her crib, but it was such a hastle to go get her at 2:30 in the morning and then again at 5, so I just set up her Pack n' Play in my bedroom beside my bed...probably for the first 3-4 months. Then, when she started sleeping through the night, I moved her to her room in her crib again. You just need to remember, do not put more than she/he needs in the Pack n' Play, like extra blankets or extra toys. These types of things can get tangled up around your baby and cause suffocation. Other than that, make sure the Pack n' Play is sturdy and follow all of the safety warnings for the particular model you have.
Good Luck & Congratulations

My Mother in Law is a Pediatrican. When my wife and I had our daugther seven months ago, we did not have the crib yet. We had a pack and play and someone also lent us a cradle.

What my mother in law was telling us is that there is no real issue with using a pack and play, the issue is that you want your baby to get famiiar and comfortbale with a routine. For example, if your baby sleeps in a pack and play for three months, what happens when it is time for the crib. Will they hate it and cry everytime you put them in.
My advice is, if you don't have a crib for financial reasons, than of course you have to use what you have. If you have the means to buy a crib perhaps order one and let your baby sleep in a pack and play for a month or so.

I have used a pack and play as a crib for all three of my children. I think they take up less room. I have a crib and none of my children ever spent one night in it. My baby is 10 months and she is still sleeping in the pack & play.

Sure why not, we go a pack n play with a bassinet insert... If you are short on space you can get a "travel crib" it's smaller than a regular crib and it folds down... They are also cheaper than the traditional crib. good luck

with my son i used one of those play pens that had a bassinet feature for the first four months of his life. i couldn't afford a crib right away and the only reason it was only four months was i found a crib on sale for $40. so i say it's ok. good luck

Of course it is. A pack n' play is like a portable crib.

Yes, just make sure there are not too many blankets, or stuffed animals, etc.......so the baby won't suffocate....but other than that its OK

Sure, my sister did. Just make sure that it's flame resistant and put together well enough to support your child.
