Wow! so you own the Beijing Olympic? You must be rich! If you own, you go LOL
Note the "LOL" It's not meant to be an attack on the poor English, just a pun on the words. As for the air? The air quality is so poor that they have postponed the long distance running events. The Chinese have admitted that it had to be done for safety reasons as the polutants are quite likely to kill some athletes. They have announced that there will be a traffic ban for the two weeks running up to the event but it's doubtful if that would be enough time for the polution to clear. As for the technology to clear the polution and guarantee no rain, they fire missiles into the air and disperse the clouds. So if an athlete doesn't collapse and die from the polution, he'll probably die from being hit by falling shrapnel LOL

Well - first off will I go, No. I couldn't afford to go there.
That being said, do I support them? No. I think it's a crock o' s**t that the IOC awarded the games to China. In my view, It's on par with them awarding the games to Nazi Germany (36) and worse than giving the games to the USSR (80).
I think it's sad, the Olympics spout on about all these lofty ideals and then every time they disappoint. From suppressed drug tests, to bribes demanded by IOC site selection committee members, rigged events and so on. Sadly, the Olympics are a sham.
When the IOC voted Jacques Rogge over Dick Pound as president they lost all hope of redemption at least for the conceivable future. Worse still anti-doping leader Pound, finished third in the voting to Kim Un-Yong even AFTER there was proof on the table that Un-Yong was not only embezzling from his World Taekwondo Federation but also guilty of taking bribes to admit businessmen into Korea's Olympic Committee and for helping to ensure that Salt Lake City got the winter games in 02.
I wish the IOC would either fess up to what they really are: A bunch of rich people that are selling everything, or get honest people like Dick Pound in there to clean up the show and help them at least make the effort to live up to some of those lofty ideas they claim as part of the Olympics.
Will it be successful? Yes.
To the last post - Beijing air quality has been called the worst in the world.

I think it will be one of the best olumpic games ever!, I think they will be safe, and like they (Chinese), said they guarantee, no rain, using their technologies, to prevent it.
I wish I could go, and maybe by then I will acomplish it. China is one place I want to visit very bad, and I hope I can do it.
I think they will be more successful than the Sidney, olympics, as far as attendance, and profits.
EDIT- I just have two Qs, for two Aers, to Ken D, does he say anywhere that he owns the Beijing olympics?, you are right, cause I didn't pay attention to the my, but as You can see this person is not that fluent in English, so give him a break.
As I doubt, if that's what he means. My to him may be a way of saying I love my city.
Greendb, I am honestly asking, this Q, what is wrong with the air in Beijing?.

Mostly I would be there in Beijing because my project may not be completed at that time!!!!
It would be just the same as any other Olympic games held in other cities!!! Why not? The construction works of Beijing National Stadium is almost completed.

Just got back!
It will be a fiasco - No clean air, No clean water, No real public transportation system considering the population and the size of the city, poor signage,...shall I go on?
I think more than a few people will find themselves missing games they paid good money to see. Let's hope the government can keep citizens off the roads to allow traffic to flow to more than a trickle.
And please, get some bleach for those public toilets!
Not to mention - HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUES!!!!!! who's the idiot that gave the games to China? Who got paid off!??
