You should ask the person who dies without any regrets.... unfortunately, it may be too late by the time you can identify any such person to ask!!
The best option is to forget meaning of life issue and to just concentrate on eliminating one by one, any or all actions that make us feel sorry later..... as we keep doing this, the meaning of life would perhaps unfold itself in our own way of living.

You, yourself. Only the person living the life can answer that for themselves. You can study everything written, ask wise men or women, and still the answer always comes back to you.
What does the meaning of life mean to you?
Why are we here?
Why are we sentient?
What is life?
I would answer those questions much different than you would, since I have lived a different life, so only your answer is pertinent to you. Understand?

ask everyone you can...and read everything you can from as many cultures as you can - you'll start to see some patterns emerging...i have some favourites but i don't know a single source that i completely agree with in all details...and i have changed and developed and sometimes completely abandoned my own ideas...and am fairly sure i haven't got a Grand Unified Theory of everything quite worked out yet =P
i believe i know what the meaning of life is for me...i even believe i know, in very general terms, what it is for peoplekind, but i've changed my mind/heart/soul too often to think that i won't change it again. sometimes i think the meaning of life is different for us at different ages, too(i think i stole that from rudolph steiner!)

the best person to ask that tired old question, is.....you! You interpret everything hat happens in your life in your own , unique way, only you know what any particular experience or person means to you, so only YOU can answer that question.

the only person who can tell you about any meaning of your life is you
"life" is the relationship between an organism (any thing that has life) and its environment
whatever meaning there is to that relationship is completely up to the organism

have you seen that commercial were the pregnant woman sits on a bench and asks her dad this very question? well that would be the one to ask your own father for he is hopefully the one person that will share all his intimate thoughts of life with you.
Go ahead ask your dad.

The meaning of life is that life has no meaning other than that which you attribute to it.
The question is void, the true question is what is the meaning of your life, and only you can answer that question.

A physicist working with the Quantum theory of consciousness. These scientists are doing amazing work (all theoritical of course). I believe they are close to understanding that consciousness is part of the equation of reality.

Life is not a puzzle to be solved.
it is a mystery to be lived.
It is uncertain, holds a lot of promise and is a challenge which has to be lived moment to moment.
It is not predictable and should be so.How would you like to atch a football match whose result u know or can say for certain.
just live it moment to moment
