Daughter brought in a small spider,was about 1cm in length but may be young so adult size may be bigger.
The top of the main body was white ,with 2 pencil thin reddish stripes on.The bottom of the main body seemed dark possibly black,can anyone shed some light on what type it is.
Love spiders so have put it at the bottom of our garden,we often get spiders in the house but have never seen this one.

Hope you can help identify this,as i would be very interested to know what it is and how common they are.

Possibly a comb footed spider.

Do you have a picture of it if so go to this yahoo group they will know what it is as the members identify a lot of species of spiders on this site, they will definitely be able to help you as they identify all spiders from all around the world it's worth asking the members it cant hurt to ask there always happy to help.

it could be a redback by the description it could have been a baby and not had the stripe on its back fully 1 stripe but i think maybe it also could of been maybe a like mutated black widow or something

its a brown widow spider

look up "your state here" spiders, and see if it matches any of them, this is what i do when i find odd insects or reptiles here
